IMAP is proud to announce the accomplishments of these outstanding former students!

Josef 'SpačekJosef Spacek (23), who toured with Chamber Music New Zealand in 2010 as part of his prize for winning the 2009 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, has just been appointed First Concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic. One of only two participants to make it to the final round, Josef then gained 97% of votes from the orchestra members to finally win the place. He will be joining the orchestra in September for the 2011/2012 season.

Eldborg Hemsing Eldbjørg Hemsing (20) Last season included Eldbjørg’s debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, a Spanish tour with the Oslo Camerata, concerts with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and a tour of Norway with the newly formed Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra. Especially noteworthy were her performances with the Trondheim Soloists and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in the Far East conducted by Tan Dun, premiering his violin concerto, “The Love”.
Tan Dun, world famous composer of both orchestral and movie scores wrote the music for Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon, for which he won an Oscar.

 
Ranghild Hemsing Ragnhild Hemsing (22) has recently recorded “Fossegrimen Suite” by the Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen with the Bergen Filharmonic Orchestra, Neeme Järvi conducting. The CD will be released in April 2011 on the British recording company label,Chandos.

Anna Skalová Anna Skalová (22) was named Concertmaster of the 2010 New York String Orchestra, performing in Carnegie Hall during the month of December.


Jiri Kabat (26) (viola, composition), received 3rd Prize in the senior division of the 2010 Antonin Dvorak International Composition Competition, Prague.He continues his composition studies in the class of prof. Jiri Gemrot. His works includes Viola Concerto (2004), Piano Quintet (2006), Songs for Alto, Viola and Piano (2007), Oboe Concerto (2008), String Quartet (2008), Doublebass Concerto (2009), Piano Trio (2009) Psalm 42 for Choir, Soprano and Organ (2010), Symphonic Overture, “Queen Esther“ (2010).

Julie Svěcená Julie Svecena (16) won 1st Prize at the 2010 International Kocian Violin Competition in the Czech Republic and  at the International Radio Competition for Young Musicians, the Concertino Praga. She studies at the Prague Conservatory with Dana Vlachová.

Kristina Vocetkova (cello), won 1st Prize at the International Competition "Young Talents" San Bartolomeo al Mare, Italy.
